On Saturday Bunny won his third National medal of the year to go with his bronze medal in the Track Omnium in February and a Silver in the Time Trial in April.
The venue was a purpose built cycle racing circuit in the beautiful city of Bath. The competition included two of the season’s most successful road racers. Bob Downs, Condor, ex professional and podium rider in The Milk Race ( Tour of Britain) back in the day, and Richard Mc Kellar, Cyclesense, who is almost certain to pip Bunny in the season long Percy Stallard Trophy series.
Mc Kellar twice attempted to jump away from the bunch, the first time this was nullified by Bunny and the second time Bunny went with him to form a gap to the bunch until Downs jumped across to join them and together they worked well to distance the bunch to such an extent that they were able to finesse on the final lap like track sprinters waiting for each other to make the first move. Bunny jumped coming out of the final bend only for Bob Downs to come round him in the last 50metres, leaving Richard Mc Kellar to trail in third and Bunny picking up the Silver medal.
