Friday night MTB series hosted at Marston Lodge, home of the Mountain Mayhem circuit, saw a good turnout of Welland Valley riders. Part of the course was familiar to many of the riders who had competed in Mayhem Madness; added to this was were some new sections of woodland previously unused, making for a tough circuit with lap times taking around eleven minutes.
In the youth race James Vernon took an excellent third just ahead of Dominic Switzer fifth with Will Perkins seventh and Huw Wilson ninth.
Highest placed WVCC rider on the night was Louis Jakobson, second under 23, followed home by Jake Hubbard.
Lone representative in the senior race Michael Burke finished in eleventh place.
In the vets, race Neil Doherty was fifth, Nick Horder was eighth, Nick Kershaw eleventh. All three riders scored their highest positions of the season.
Grand vets saw Vic Barnett and Kevin Mills finished sixteenth and twenty first respectively.
Sarah Vigrow just missed being lapped and had to do a lap on her own, finishing fourth.
All riders forfeited their prize money, so over £350 was donated to Ride for Charlie.
Afterwards, organiser and birthday boy Dean Barnett, celebrated his birthday with a huge cake that all riders and helpers enjoyed at the end.
