Last night WVCC fielded the biggest turnout with Martin, Phil, Bunny, Rob, James, Loz and Nick Kershaw taking part in the LVRC Circuit Race championships.
The youngest race was enlivened when Martin went away on his own for a few laps whilst his many yellow mates controlled the front of the bunch to deter chasers. When Martin was finally caught Mike Twelves, the Series organiser, broke away with one other staying away to win his own race impressively. Aware that first place was no longer an option James Moore gave Phil Rayner a good lead out to enable him to win the bunch sprint for third.
The race for the “slightly more seasoned riders” was so fast that it looked as though it would catch the younger riders who started 20 seconds earlier. A split soon occurred with Steve Tucker Derby Mercury breaking away and riding in his usual unstoppable way whilst Bunny and 4 others kept up a forlorn chase. Bunny led out the uphill sprint but tired sufficiently for 2 riders from a younger class to nip by before the line but he had still done enough to win his age group and become Midlands Circuit Race Champion.
