Another keen WVCC Member Matt Plews has been out and about this weekend in Yorkshire, proudly wearing his club kit. Matt has sent us a few words about his weekend…
“A few months ago Rachael decided that she needed a challenge, as if living with me wasn’t challenging enough, so she entered the Yorkshire Three Peaks. Whilst she was off enjoying the scenery during a leisurely stroll, I met up with my uncle near Hebden Bridge and his triathlon club for a leisurely three hour ride.
The scenery was breathtaking, loved the climbs with a mixture of steep brutal ascents and long gradual gradients, with one climb in particular, named Big Jack pretty brutal (it’s the road in the distance in the photo). I’ve worked out that whilst I like steep ascents, the steep descents are not my cup of tea and had a lesson in descending from the locals! 3 hours, 40 miles and 4,731elevation made for a great ride and with the sun shining my cycling tan lines are on point!
Meanwhile Rachael finished her gentle stroll in 11 hours which was her target time, she even had the strength to run the last few miles…..to say I’m proud of her is an understatement. She now want another challenge…..I’ve suggested LEJOG🤣”
Thanks for sharing Matt, well done Rachael.
