Boom! Team tactics pay off for Phil at Mallory

A good turn out with 7 riders in yellow tonight in the latest round of the LVRC series at Mallory park.

In the older category race , Bunny was as usual in the thick of the action and made the winning break of four, taking 3rd overall whilst winning his F category age Group. Stuart Dawkins hung in there until about half distance , but then succumbed to the faster than usual pace.

In the Younger A B C D race WVCC handed out a fine lesson on team tactics, Martin Webster went away for several laps ,with the yellow brigade policing the chase. Eventually Martin was reabsorbed by the peleton only for Phil Rayner to counter attack with one other rider, Paul Dring, an A cat. Working well together, they ploughed on for the remaining 40 minutes, comfortable in the knowledge that behind the WVCC team mates would be thwarting any attempt to bridge the gap.

Phil won a straight forward two up sprint at the end. 90 seconds later, James Moore took the bunch sprint for 3rd (2nd A) closely followed by Martin ( 1st D ) , great teamwork from Rob Moore and Simon Hopkins ensured a very successful evening for the WVCC.

Well done all! Thanks Phil for the report.
