Percy Stallard fourth round- Bobbington, Staffordshire.

Mixed fortunes for Welland Valley’s riders in the fourth counting round of the season long Percy Stallard Trophy series.
James Moore put his “behind him” troubles behind him to take second place in the bunch sprint in the A/B race noting that it was the first time ever that he had lost out in the sprint to the eventual winner. Whilst James’s race had stayed together on a testing course with a long, long testing hill plus some other little lumps the other races had a bit more drama.
Bunny achieved 3rd best F and 8th overall in the race for E to I cats. Two classy riders Steve Tucker and Richard Mc Keller got away on lap 2 and stayed out front until the end, Bunny initiated a chasing group of 5 which towards the end was caught by another 8 riders, they contested the final sprint with Bunny being pipped by Andrew Donaldson for 2nd in his age group.
In the C/D race the drama intensified for WVCC. Phil Rayner said he “didn’t have the legs today” though there was certainly something sticking upwards from his yellow shoes! He finished in the bunch.
Martin Webster was very unlucky to be following a rival who looked over his shoulder and possibly touching a wheel in front 4 riders came down with Martin going over his handlebars and head first into the road, luckily his crash hat did the job though he was left with bruised knees and possibly bruised eyes from his glasses being forced into his nose. We all hope Martin returns to his handsome self ASAP. The original crash victim eventually was taken to hospital and at present his condition is unclear.
