Two important reminders for all club members re time trials and the ‘steady’ chain gang.
Tuesday sees the first of five TTs on the Sulby course. Race HQ is the sports pavilion at Husbands Bosworth, with registration open from 6pm and the first rider away at 7pm.
The course is ideal for TT novices – run on mainly quiet rural roads, with marshals at all the key turns and a gently undulating profile. It’s the ideal track to pick up significant points for the Nev Brooks Memorial Trophy, which is currently headed by Debbie Ward, Stewart Holland, Lorna Marlow, Steve Alden and Huw Wilson. With seven evening 10s counting towards the overall winner; there’s still plenty of time for riders of all ages / speeds / and standards to get involved in this prestigious competition.
Next Thursday (May 16) sees the ‘steady’ chain gang back in action. We meet at 6.30pm sharp outside the school at Church Langton for a two lap / 55 minute blast around the Welland Valley.
The pace is around 20mph; which sounds a lot (to some of us), but is actually quite bearable because each rider is only on the front for 15-20 seconds at a time.
For anyone wanting to improve their general cycling fitness / go faster in TTs / or simply learn a new skill; it’s a top night out on two wheels, with experienced riders on hand to help any newbies.
Hope to see you there.
