Round 2 of the Cyclocross National Trophy was at Irvine on the west coast of Scotland. Despite the amount of travel for many the opportunity to race through dunes and alongside the beach ensured large and strong fields. Dom Switzer was gridded on the third row and had an okay start but got caught behind a crash on the first visit to the sand and the front of the race got away. A stumble at the hurdles cost Dom some more places and on the long fast flats it was hard to catch back but Dom stuck in and rode brilliantly on the climbs, cambers and through the sand to bring back riders. Dom finished 25th overall, a great experience to ride the course and mix it with top riders.
Leicester Cyclocross League – Round 4
Round 4 was hosted by Welland Valley CC at the wonderful venue of Misterton Hall in cold Autumn sunshine. After months of dry weather even heavy rain the day before and in the morning wasn’t enough to make it muddy. There was a good turn-out of riders for the home fixture.
