Foxton Incline Hilly TT report

The latest round of the Whizz Kids Racing League 2018 supported by Climate Care Systems was the hill climb and after quite a few years at Wilbaston we moved back into Leicestershire for the inaugural Foxton Incline hilly time trial. The course today followed the original road to the wharf from Foxton village but since the new road was built our course has become a bridleway and traffic free. Starting from the wharf riders had to ride the 500m course up to the edge of the village. This is a steady climb with a false finish and a nasty kick at the end. Riders were initially sent off in number order but after the first round it was first come first served for a second (or third or fourth) run up to the summit. The fastest time for each rider will be the one that decided the final result.
The full results can be found here but a few highlights,  first there were no Under 6 riders so first away from the Under 8’s was Andrew who set a blistering time  only beaten on his third run.  Good to see the consistency as only 8 seconds separated his quickest and slowest run of the five completed on the day.  In the U10’s Jamie Kershaw was quickest followed by Ruby and Jax and there wasn’t much to separate the U12’s and U14 riders but Mia edged out Luke in the U12’s and Daniel walking over the U14’s but still with a great time.  Overall the fasted today was Mia with 1m 21s and she therefore takes the age group and overall hill record.

Thanks to young volunteers Will, Ben and Jade. Will now has enough hours accrued to qualify for his Bronze Award, well done Will and thanks for the support and commitment. Also helping today were Dean, Ian, Anne and Vic as well as all the parents who marshalled the climb to make sure our riders were safe.

Finally as we edge towards the Cross Season don’t forget that Whizz Kids get some special rates at George Halls Cycle Centre, so if you need some new tyres, bikes or accessories pop down and see Neil and the team.
