Roadrunner XXII Report

Round two of this years roadrunner series was held on Tuesday evening and it was good to see more riders signed up this week.  In an effort to add a bit of variety the course creator team had marked three courses, the yellow 1 mile course, the blue 1km course and the 450m red course.  The colours appeared to bamboozle the riders a bit so to simplify matters the first event was a 1km time trial on the blue course.  All 19 riders completed the oval that utilised the pit lane and the main start/finish straight.   A mention to Sam Lindsay who coasted across the line to take equal 5th place without power due to a dropped chain.

Race two for the younger riders was a 2 lap – 900m scratch race on the red course and here Jax Roberts edged out Ben Horder for the win with Noah taking third.  The older riders contested the same course but their race was 5 laps – 2.25km again on the red course. In a tight race Dominic Bea and Jamie Kershaw traded the lead but as both riders made the final turn Dominic was just the fastest and took the race by just a bike length.

Race three was on the short rainbow oval and was an elimination race.  In the U10 race Jax again edged out Ben but a timing error meant that the other positions will not be recorded.  The older riders finished the programme in diminishing daylight with their elimination race and again it was Dominic and Jamie contesting the sprint with Jamie this time taking the win by a just half a wheel.  There was some great riding by all riders tonight.  RR XXII results can be found here. Just a reminder that Roadrunner XXIII runs next Tuesday.  Finally, we never did use the yellow course…
