In awful cold soggy conditions, Fraser Ayears and Michael Burke returned to the London Borough of Hillingdon to race on a purpose-built mile circuit. The circuit is a fast and easy circuit to ride as the bends are not too sharp enabling riders to pedal all the way round.
Fraser is still learning the craft of bunch racing and found himself surfing the wheels. As the conditions worsened, the junior rider found himself fighting the elements as much as staying in the bunch.
After 45 minutes racing, Fraser finished safely in the bunch.
Michael is a constantly high finisher in the Full Gas series of events. As the conditions persisted, the spray of the wheels was making the conditions even more unbearable.
At the mid-way point of the hour’s race, 3 riders escaped the bunch.
The trio worked well to stay away from the chasing pack. Safe in the pack was Michael, very aware the bunch would be sprinting for the minor placings.
Alex Paton (Canyon Eisbgerg) took the victory as Michael sprinted across the line to secure a strong 5th place.
