Welland Valley Whizz Kids travelled slightly out of catchment today (Sat 27th Jan) for the trip across to Leicester for our skills session at the Leicester Cycle Circuit.
The weather was never set to be fair today but overall we got away with the best of the day. The rain in the morning stopped right on cue at 2:00pm for the start of the session. The riders split into two quality groups with the older riders working on the circuit while the younger riders got to grips with their individual skills.
The senior riders utilised a section of the circuit and after a much needed warm up started to look in depth at cornering skills, the riders being encouraged to look at the various lines and discover themselves the best line and to think about their approach to the following turn.
There were a good few laps completed, some quick, some slow but valuable skills polished. The younger element of the Whizz Kids really improved their skills and finished up by starting and stopping and a superb ride the line. All key skills.
Thanks today to Dean Barnett and to Wayne and Herman from New College for superb facilities and to the parents who looked frozen. We’ll see you all in a couple of weeks at Pitsford for a family ride around the lake. See you there.
