Ian reports on the Round Robin #11 Wymeswold 10 TT

Tuesday evening saw 33 riders gather at Wymondham Memorial Hall for the penultimate race in the Round Robin series, organised by Leicester Forest Cycling Club.
Unlike last week where we all suffered in 35 degrees, the weather was a perfect temperature with a gentle breeze and dry roads.
The atmosphere was relaxed with groups of riders warning up together and chatting at the start line in Burton on the Wolds.
From the start we headed out of the village, to turn left onto Nottingham Road which was where the hard work really began. The course wound its way upwards heading out through 2 islands towards the A46, where we turned left towards Burton on the Wolds for the finish. This section was downhill with a slight wind against and was surprisingly fast, it definitely added a feel good factor to the end of the race.
The event was won by Alex Whitmore with a searingly quick 23.30 and Jamie Kershaw in a rapid 2nd with 24.01, Leah Cuthbertson was the fastest woman with a stunning 25.04.
A notable performance from Tyler Dyson in 4th place with 24.17, who will be beating his Dad soon at this rate!
My sincere thanks (as I am sure everybody’s) go out to Steve and the volunteers from LFCC who hosted the event for us. The Organisation, the Marshalls, timekeeping and catering were all fantastic, as was the choice of venue.
The course itself was challenging but great fun, and I am looking forward to returning for some more TT action there next year.
This has been my first season of TT racing with WVCC, and so far it has been a real blast. Having recently stopped running due to endless injuries and niggles it has been so refreshing to be able to race hard and still be able to function normally the next day what.
It has been a steep learning curve in terms of gear and pacing, but has been a fantastic experience.
