Muddy Marvellous Mudlarks!

With the road and time trial seasons just around the corner, it is time to pause and celebrate some muddy marvellous mudlark performances in the recently completed Leicestershire Cyclocross League.

Across the age groups, there were some epic performances, season long consistencies, and as things got muddier in December and January, great examples of tenacity and resilience as riders beat the course.

Whizz Kids and Youth Riders dug deep, so it’s a big well done to Emilia, Martha, Daniel, Mea, Charlie, Nate, Finn, Rory and Aubrey.

Well done to everyone that raced and beat the course.

Everyone at Welland Valley Cycling Club will want to congratulate members who placed in the top 3 of their categories:

  • Mea Moore 1st U14 Girls
  • Aubrey Elmer 2nd U16 Boys
  • Jamie Kershaw 1st Junior Open (who now rides with Beeston CC Race Team, but is very much part of the Welland Valley family)
  • James Moore 1st Masters 40-49 Open
  • Victor Barnett 1st Masters 70+

Chapeau.

Watch this space for a deep dive on the 2025/6 cyclocross season from Team Elmer later this week…….

Thank you to all the organisers and organising clubs, the volunteers and the venues, and to the LCXL team.  Without you, we would not be able to race, make the memories and enjoy the camaraderie that makes ‘cross so special.  Don’t forget the LCXL awards dinner on 21st March at the Arc Community Hub, Loughborough.

Finally, thank you to Kevin Mills and Simon Ward, who week in week out from September to December organised the cracking Wednesday Night ‘Mudlarks’ training sessions, helping riders hone their skills (both bike riding and bike washing) throughout the muddy season.
