Off-Road Rides – Winter Programme
We’re into our winter programme now so there will be no more evening rides until the spring. We plan to ride for around 3 hours on a Saturday morning or afternoon with a longer gravel based ride or a trip further afield once a month.
For November we have the following starting in different places to allow for different route choices:
- Sat 1 November 1.30pm – ride leader Richard Heald
- Sat 8 November 8.30am – ride leader Adrian Killworth
- Sat 15 November 1.30pm – ride leader Jason Williams
- Postponed
Sun 23 November 8.30am– longer gravel based ride- ride leader Adrian Killworth - Sat 29 November 1.30pm – ride leader David Wilson
Routes will be planned according to ground conditions, so if it’s wet we will stick to harder surfaces and avoid the softer bridleways. We will plan to visit a cafe towards the end of our Saturday morning rides and a pub towards the end of our Saturday afternoon rides if we are not too mucky. We will publish routes and start points beforehand on the WVCC Off-Road Rides WhatsApp group and this will also be used for ride updates (rides will not go ahead in heavy rain or dangerously high winds).
The rides will be suitable for all off-road bikes, but tyres with a knobblier tread are recommended for the winter. We also recommend some sort of puncture protection such as tubeless tyres with sealant or “slime” tubes and that you bring appropriate spares. Lights are also essential for the end of our afternoon rides and if we ride the tunnels on the BVW and to make sure we are visible to other road users on the road sections.
Please let us know if you can lead a ride – ideally through our off-road WhatsApp group. To be added to our off-road WhatsApp group please message Adrian Killworth or email your mobile number to offroad@wellandvalleycc.co.uk
