Round Robin is go!
Congratulations to Phil Wilkinson and to Rockingham Forest Wheelers on their excellent organization last night of the first round of our inaugural 5 club summer competition.
And congratulations too to Welland Valley riders – at 14 competitors, the largest contingent on the night.
Chapeau also to our multiple category winners: Laoise Bennis, on a roadbike, was fastest woman overall in 28.04, Hans Van Nierop was quickest overall with 23.39, while Jamie Kershaw was fastest Junior in 24.45.
It was also great to see Charlie Hardwicke and Mea Moore lighting up the Youth Roadbike standings.
A new and “interesting” (NB code for “challenging” ) rural course created a real buzz with riders sharing tales of speed and suffering back at the Rocko clubhouse. Warm and relatively windless conditions under a mackerel sky had greeted 37 competitors as they sped/struggled wheezed up Gretton Hill before dropping speedily into Harringworth and then negotiating the long, winding and undulating road to the finish near Caldecott.
A hard, fine time was had by all.
Remember, last night’s riders not only scored in the Round Robin, but also in our own club championships. Thanks as ever to Mike Ives for processing the times/categories scores so quickly.
