Whizz Kids and the Worlds Slowest Club Run
Hi Whizz Kids, next Saturday, June 14th, is Market Harborough Carnival and Whizz Kids have participated in the procession for many years now, and it’s always a cracking day out. All Whizz Kids are welcome to join in for the “worlds slowest club run” where we’ll be riding (very slowly) through the town on closed roads with plenty of support all along the parade route. It normally takes between 45minutes and an hour to complete the ride and parents are welcome to ride as well, or walk the route with the younger riders. As it’s not a normal session there are a few important things to note.
We will be meeting up from 11:00am at the bottom (Town) end of Burnmill Road. What3Words approximate location is ///wool.dollar.beaks.
The parade will start at 11:30am and we will be leading out for the first part so can everybody be assembled by 11:15am at the latest please. We normally get our photo taken for the local paper at this time. One we get going we normally then have to wait for a few minutes for the last of the runners to pass by and for our escort of the steam traction engines to get into position ahead of us before the ride proper.
There is no access to Burnmill Road and parking generally will be challenging for those coming from outside of the town, so allow plenty of time to get to the start, you will have to ride/walk, possibly from some distance away. There will be road closures in place from 9:00am all across the town centre and the diversions will be busy.
The route passes through the town centre, Coventry Rd, past Welland Park, back into town and finishes on St Marys Road. We will be using the chippy on St Marys Rd as our finish point and we’ll disperse from there.
Booking is now open, check your email and WhatsApp for metails.
See you on Saturday morning, don’t forget your bike, helmet and drinks and don’t forget to get here early. Cheers,
P.S Older, senior club members are welcome to join us on the ride if you wish and take the challenge of riding at about 2mph!
