Welland Valley CC Spring 100k Gravel Ride – Sunday 13 April
Hipster time again! It might be a bit hilly for a fixie though, so you’ll have to bring your gravel bike.
The spring gravel ride will set of from Great Bowden at 8am on Sunday 13 April. The route heads north east to Welham before picking up the first off-road sector – sector 12, on grass to Medborne up to sector 11 to Blaston and sector 10 and 9 to Stockerston. The route then heads up the alpine climb towards Uppingham before taking sector 8 above Eyebrook Reservoir. It then takes a fast road descent to Lyddington before heading north to Wing to pick up sector 7 towards Rutland Water for sector 6 – a full anticlockwise circumnavigation of Rutland Water including a cafe stop at Whitwell and the peninsular . The route then heads east to Brooke on sector 5 and then sector 4 via Leigh Lodge to Loddington. It’s then on to Tilton on the Hill to pickup sector 3 to Skeffington. Then the route takes us on the gated road through Rolleston to sector 2 the Via Devana (Gartree Road) roman road and the right turn to Stonton Wyville. Then it’s the final sector to Thorpe Langton and the run in for some quick vitamin B recovery drinks at the Shoulder of Mutton.
This is a club ride for members and friends from other local clubs. We will split into groups if numbers allow and the steady group will be a no-drop group.
Flared handlebars, moustaches or goatees are not required. The route will also be suitable for non-hipsters on cyclocross bikes or MTBs.

We plan to meet at 8am on the green in Great Bowden. Some form of puncture protection is recommended for our off-road rides such as tubeless tyres with sealant or self-sealing inner tubes. If riding narrower tyres or inner tubes please use a bit more pressure to avoid pinch or sidewall punctures.
