Getting ready for WVCC’s centenary in 2027
In 2027 Welland Valley Cycling Club will be celebrating its Centenary year, having been formed at its first general meeting on 27th June 1927. Whilst 2027 seems a while off yet, planning for a year of celebration needs to begin well in advance.
2027 presents an opportunity to engage both WVCC members and the wider community in a range of positive activities that:
- Would be great fun for all our members (including Whizz Kids, racers, non-racers and non-riding supporters).
- Bring the wider Welland family together (the wider family can be seen as those that used to be members, those that have moved on, and those who had friends and family that were keen members).
- Positively raise the profile of our Club in our communities in North Northants and South Leicestershire.
To start this process, Jonathan Durnin and Peter Riley will convene a small task group to develop a ‘long list’ of ideas to discuss with the Committee in early 2025.
