Sunday’s amended Hardrider Course – a safety note
The amended Hardrider course for this Sunday’s TT is detailed in a previous post, but essentially rather than two laps of the Medbourne/Stockerston/Horninghold Hallaton loop, on the first lap riders will turn left as they reach Horninghold to go straight up Belchers Hall to the B664 where they tun left back to the Stockerston/Horninghold/Hallaton part of the old loop.
There will be a map at the HQ but all riders are expected to familiarize themselves with race routes before they start.
Safety notes
The course has been previously risk assessed and this will be available at the HQ.
Many riders will already be familiar with the quick descent to Stockerston and the need for caution at the 90 degree left bend there, but the amended course has an even sharper, more-than-right-angle left turn at the sharp downhill entry to Horninghold. If you have time to recce this part of the route, please do. This course is very quiet and safe, but in the past, when we have used this course, some riders have not “scrubbed off” the appropriate amount of speed to avoid going onto the wrong side of the road up Belchers Hill. This is a blind bend for traffic coming down Belchers Hill so we will have an extra marshall signalling to descending traffic to be aware of our race as well as a marshall signalling the turn.
NB Marshalls cannot stop traffic. Please be safe. Enjoy your ride.Â
