Mallory Four

Another great night of road bike racing brought the curtain down on the club’s Summer Race Nights series at Mallory.
Once again blessed with fine weather, the action on the track was fast and furious from the off, with four groups setting out at intervals to complete 16 laps of the circuit.
Kamila Leska and Steve Latham broke away from Group 1 on the very first lap and worked brilliantly together to come home first and second after an hour’s blood sweat and tears. Well, certainly sweat.
Close behind was Group 4’s Tom Medley, who went clear near the end to be the first of the fast group to cross the line ahead of two-times winner Chris Orfeur..
Groups 2 and 3 had their chances, but both appeared unable to deliver consistent chain-gang smoothness.
Thanks once again to race commissaire Phil Rayner, time keeper George Barnett, handicap maestro Nick Clarke, and all the volunteers on the night.
Hopefully we can do it all again in 2024.
Results (first 25); Kamila Leska, Steve Latham, Tom Medley, Chris Orfeur, James Moore, David Robertson, Rhys Thomas, Jamie Kershaw, Austin Smith, Mitchell Hall, Chris Ramsdale, Julian Rathbone, Ellie Humphries, Hans Van Nierop, Chris Allitt, Patrick Stone, Dan Main, Gary Roberts, Richard Hendrick, Chris Chapman, Nick Clarke, Stuart Dawkins, Chris Dainty, Rob Pullen and Lizzie Stewart.
Thanks to the whole “Bruntingthorpe” group that put together this series of brilliant and well organised races. We’re already looking forward to next year!
