Whizz Kids Saturday (and Thursday) report

Fortunately the forecast was slightly wrong and we weren’t Thunderstruck although some of us did get very wet during the setting up for today’s Whizz Kids session which focused on gears. Splitting into two groups we worked across three zones, the oval, bank and an asymmetrical sprint all of which tested the riders, the damp grass meant heightened awareness too. For the younger group “gears” was a bit academic as we had two balance bikes, five single speeders and just two with derailleurs but we managed to get in some key skills and even managed a figure of eight which wasn’t on the curriculum before finishing with a drag race series.
Thanks today to Ian, Jade & Dave, and Simon for coaching and to everyone who cleared up before the showers returned.
It’s clear that Mallory isn’t the best fit for a midweek night for Whizz Kids but we did have a select group out on Thursday evening for Roadrunner XLVIII and pulled in some drag TT’s and a bunch of races. We’re back there on July 20th and the next Whizz Kids session on the 22nd. We’re checking availability as we’re in holiday season and we’ll confirm details next week.
Catch you soon, Kev
