It’s Time to Race

The season kicks off with the NCRA Spring Handicap road race series. Event 1 is promoted by Welland Valley CC and is on Saturday 4th March at  Walgrave Village Hall, NN6 9PZ.
Its a an exciting  introduction to road racing for the more competitive amongst us. The races are set off in groups based on ability and experience,  with the first groups to start sometimes holding off the faster groups at the finish to savour the thrills and delights of sprinting for a top position and indeed for the victory.
However if the groups do come together on the last lap , the buzz and sensation of being in a huge pack ( if you can hang on!), is an amazing experience.
Any WVCC rider who has enjoyed the discipline of Saturday training rides ,Thursday chain gangs or the races at Bruntingthorpe, should give the handicap races a go.
Last year we regularly had 15 club riders making up nearly 25% of the total race.
As the WVCC are promoting the first round, we need a few more helpers on the day  to ensure the smooth running of the event.
