Bloomin’ Amazin’

Sunday saw the Expedition to Pitsford for a group of largely novice cyclists and they were Bloomin’ Amazin’. Breeze riders joined club members and took part in what was by far their longest ride yet – almost 60km.

Like all expeditions (and rather like Paris-Roubaix) there were challenges to overcome:

  • Negotiating the dark, dark tunnels
  • Repairing a puncture for the first time
  • The steep hill (10%) from Brampton Valley to the road
  • Putting several dropped chains back on
  • Coping with the heat and the dust

There were lots of compensations though

  • a fantastically positive, enthusiastic and encouraging group to ride with
  • ice cream
  • beautiful vistas
  • seeing the skills and endurance of our new cyclists
  • enjoying the company of 2 extra riders who joined us for the first part of the journey
  • bicycles with baskets

So very well done to everyone who took part. You really were bloomin’ amazin’ and I’m very much looking forward to organising another similar ride.
