Ellie reports on a cracking team effort at the Friday Night Summer Series

Friday night saw the penultimate round of the Friday Night Summer Series in the form of a team relay at Wibtoft.

I was desperate to race having punctured on the start line last time. Knowing to qualify for a team prize you had to have someone form each category.

I was a little hesitant to ask but I took the plunge and the first people that came to mind were Nik and Jamie Kershaw. I texted Nik and straight away he text back to say him and Jamie were up for it.  Now all we needed was a senior/u23 and the first person we thought of was Jim Vernon.  Nik texted Jim and by late Thursday evening we had our team sorted. I was delighted and knowing my fellow Welland Valley riders and how strong they are I thought we could be in for a good chance here.

Jim set us off and stormed around the course to complete his 2 laps, followed by Nik, myself and then Jamie, by which point we were in the lead. Jim and Nik managed to fly around another lap before getting the bell following which Jamie gave it his all to lead us to victory!

I had a cracking night, thank you to Nik, Jim and Jamie- amazing team and company, so glad I sent that text!
