WVCC Off-Road 100 Miler #3 on 12 June

Our off-road endurance ride is back for its third edition on 12 June setting of from Great Bowden – What3Words ///fenced.calls.hypnotist – at 6.30am.

The first ride in 2020 was devised as an alternative to Mountain Mayhem and took the socially distanced group of 6 south west to the bottom of Borough Hill near Daventry. Year 2 saw a larger group head south east all the way to Irthlingborough. This year we are heading north east to Belvoir Castle and back. The route heads north via Nosely Hall, Burrough on the Hill and the Jubillee way onto the Terrace Hills overlooking the vale of Belvoir before sweeping down past Belvoir Castle and onto the Grantham Canal towpath before turning south via the Viking Way to the Wymondham Windmill for a fish finger sandwich (other lunches are available) at about 60 miles. The return takes in the southern shore of Rutland Water, the terrace above Eyebrook Reservoir and the Stockerston off-road climb before the final run for home. See link to planned route: https://explore.osmaps.com/route/11674180/wvcc-2022-offroad-100-miler

This will be an unsupported club ride for WVCC members and friends from other local clubs, so you will need to carry plenty of spares and have a plan for rescue if needed. We just ask that anyone who joins us makes a donation to our fantastic Tandem LEJOG team – #TeamTandemLEJOG2020 – https://www.facebook.com/hashtag/teamtandemlejog2020 – raising funds for @Friends of Thomas’s Fund – who start their challenge in Cornwall on the same day –  https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/tim-smith94

Please let us know if you’re coming via our WhatsApp group.

As ever for off-road rides we recommend some form of puncture protection such as tubeless tyres with sealant or self sealing inner tubes.
