A great spectator report by Linda Hubbard from today’s Bio Racer Circuit Race.

My Bank holiday outing was to the Darley Moor race circuit near Ashbourne, to watch Phil in the Bio Racer Circuit Race.  I don’t often go to watch Phil race and sometimes, when i have made it to the race I manage to miss the finish!! I felt sure on this occasion that wouldn’t be the case!

If you have ever been to Darley Moor then you’ll know that it has its own micro-climate and is always colder and windier than anywhere else.  today was no different!  When I got out of the car at the circuit I regretted not bringing more clothes!  However I was offered extra jerseys to wear by Phil and Rob Muzio (Team Ohten Aveas) as I looked so cold!  As the race progressed the sun came out and I warmed up (after walking a lap of the circuit)

The race split into two big groups on the 3rd lap, Phil being in the first group, at one point gaining approximately 30 seconds advantage over the chasers, however the chasing group appeared to work well together and managed to bridge the gap back to the leaders and it became one bunch again.

After the prime, almost halfway into the race, 3 riders went clear (Ray Bell, Richard Moore and Ian Holbrook) they worked well together and by the end of the race had a gap of two minutes on the bunch.  Martin Nelson took off from the front of the bunch and after riding on his own for a couple of laps, was joined by Phil and they worked well together to gain 40 seconds advantage from the bunch.

The 3 riders stayed away and sprinted for the first 3 places, in a classic move Phil easily won the sprint for 4th place overall and 2nd D category.  And I actually saw the finish!!

Thanks Linda, and glad you saw the finish too!
