As many of you are aware Mike Vybiral had organised the above event for more than 15 years. It had always been a much appreciated and enjoyed event.
With the sad passing of Mike, the club decided the event should still go ahead and took over the organisation.
On Saturday 18 September over 60 riders, from far and widearrived at Husbands Bosworth Sports hall, from 07.00 to embark on 4 different routes – 56k, 116k, 160k and 200k. All the routes had been planned by Mike in advance and went as far south as Long Buckby before heading north, with the 200k going as far as Belvoir Castle.
The first riders set off at 07.30 and all had left by 09.00. There was then a lull until participants started to return from about 11.30 onwards.
Tea, coffee and biscuits were provided at the start and the same plus filled rolls were available to finishers. All seemed to be appreciated.
The event was held under strict Audax UK rules and riders had to visit certain control points to prove that they had completed the route.
The last person back returned at 20.15 and completed what had been a very successful day. There was lots of positive comments regarding the beautiful countryside and villages.
