#StopOnlineAbuse
Welland Valley Cycling Club supports this weekend’s boycott of social media in response to the ongoing and sustained discriminatory abuse which sportspeople and others continue to receive online.
Social media brings many benefits to the Club. However, the blight of online abuse impacts different sports in different ways. In joining the footballing and wider sporting community (including British cycling) in making a stance against online abuse, we hope that this weekend’s action across sport will force social media companies to bolster and accelerate their efforts to tackle the issue.
This weekend however is also the focus of much charity activity, not least the Captain Tom 100
The Club will not be posting on our social media channels between 3pm Friday 30th April and 23:59pm on Monday 3rd May, except to celebrate the achievements of members and friends as part of #CaptainTom100. The Club will be responding to direct messages about rides.
