One of three promising riders on the club’s Youth Development Programme, Luke Jones has been keeping busy during the lockdown. Here – in his own words – is what he’s been up to on the bike:
“My name is Luke, I’m 13 years old and part of WVCC’s Youth Development Programme. COVID-19 has meant that since we were put into lockdown, track and circuit training has been put on hold.
However, the British Cycling Talent Development Centre, were quick to set up a weekly training session on Zwift for all Youth A & B riders, and this has helped to keep me focused. There is also a Zwift Race Series each week which I use as a further training session, but I don’t take part in these every week.
I’m managing a couple of road rides each week, one solo and one with my Dad, and have recently taken up Bryan Steel’s offer to WVCC riders and joined his Zwift meet ups. I’m still using my rollers too but am currently taking each day as it comes, and just enjoying every opportunity I have to ride my bike for fitness and FUN!!!”
