It was sunshine all way for the Welland Valley Sportive, with 276 riders enjoying some fabulous on and off-road routes through glorious countryside.
Equally enjoyable was the post-event beer (or beers -plural- in many cases) at the Langton Brewery, with riders soaking up the rays, chilling out and chatting through the ups and downs of the day (it was hilly).
Of course sportives are not races, but the records show WVCC’s Tim Smith was quickest round the 100k course in 3hrs 10mins; with the last finisher coming in at 6hrs 58mins.
Quickest time round the 60k road route was 2.37 (slowest 5.33); and WVCC’s Hans van Nierop was fastest 60k off-roader in 2.41 (slowest 6.17).
There was much praise for all the routes, the organisation and admin and the ride HQ.
And there was a good turn-out of club members.
So take a bow Mark Chapman and your team of WVCC and Macmillan Cancer Support volunteers.
