Michael Burke took on the Buxton Mountain Time Trial, organised by Buxton Cycling Club annually on Good Friday each year.
The course is a circuit of 11 miles starting and finishing in Longnor which is completed three times by the Men and twice by the Veterans, Women, Paracyclists and Juniors. There are 390 metres of climbing per lap which, along with the variable weather, makes this one of the hardest time trial events in the country.
“Buxton TT. Mega Hard. I took to it on the road bike and I actually had really good legs for the first lap and was holding back. However it got very hard on the second lap and on the third the effort really collapsed and I found myself trying to push on with my legs feeling a bit numb. None the less a very enjoyable ride and a great chance to get a rare longer Time Trial in. Finishing with a time of 01:40:57 to finish 32nd”
