Tarmac Skills – and an Extra Session

Just a quick update on the Whizz Kids session this afternoon held at the Leicester Cycle Circuit and firstly we were fortunate to have a dry session given the deluge conditions over at Lutterworth earlier when I was pickinyg up the kit. The 1km circuit offered plenty of space to build up some tarmac skills. After a mass warm-up the Whizz Kids split into two groups with Dean running the single speeders and Kevin, Simon and Ian working with the Derailleurs. The older riders started with a quick test in marking out a corner themselves and after some refining there was a consensus on the best line. the slight differences clearly made the difference. Next was some reaction and reflex exercises before some pace judgememt and team sprint which proved a bit of a communication challenge. The single speeders worked at the top end of the circuit finishing up with a drag race and while the start and accelleration and driving for the line had been covered it appears that the lesson on stopping got missed as the last two riders completed a lap of honour. Thanks to Dean, Simon, Ian and Jade for leading today.
** NEXT WEEK ** There is an extra Whizz Kids session at Welland Park, Market Harborough next Saturday afternoon which will be filmed by BBC Sport to support Deans nomination for East Midlands unsung hero. Please join if you can to support Dean
