With more and more road races in the East Midlands region wanting to use the Accredited Marshal Scheme (AMS), we have been asked by British Cycling to help them ensure there are enough trained marshals available to support events and keep riders safe when they are racing.
Not only does this help the racing, but having more club members who are AMS-trained also means that the club is less likely to need to pay for marshals – saving the club money.
AMS-training also brings benefits such as free Bronze membership of British Cycling. No previous experience is required although a basic understanding of how a road race works is helpful and so parents, friends and supporters of riders who might be at events anyway are all very welcome to do this. There are marshals in the region with a wide variety of backgrounds and experience who are just interested in the sport and want to help make the events safer for the riders.
