Whizz Kids Racing League 1 plus a new world record

Spring has definitely arrived for Whizz Kids as we raced round 1 of the Whizz Kids Racing League in glorious sunshine, only just below the 20 degrees I’d promised. Blessed with the sound of cascading Skylarks all around there was a slightly worrying moment when a Red Kite landed right at the side of the track, perhaps thinking the smaller Whizz Kids riding at the time might make a decent meal. Fortunately the Kite thought better of it and all our riders were accounted for.
Racing on the Go-Kart track we had a series of age group races that proved to be entertaining as usual some great skills on view. The racing made more challenging by the moderate gale (it is Bruntingthorpe) running across the circuit, strong enough that we had to tie down the Land Rover to stop it blowing away.
Results will come later from Ian but we do have some breaking news in that Finn used the conditions to smash his own world records for the longest freewheel. Last summer we had a 2 full lap freewheel but today we saw an incredible half a lap further to clock 2 and a half laps freewheeling!
Thanks today to coaches Ali, Jane and Simon, Timekeeper Ian, Fabia and Kate from Cox Automotive and to Steve and Linda from Alden Electrical for supporting the racing league again this year.
Next session is in two weeks time on Easter Saturday, I’ll see who is around and plan accordingly and let you know.
