Encouraging!

It’s so encouraging when someone you know tries something new and does well at it. It’s encouraging for them of course,  and also encouraging for all club members who can delight in their success.

Aged 14, Aubrey Elmer raced his first time trial on Boxing Day with a time of 28min 31sec,  a time that many of us would be only too pleased to match. So the club is particularly pleased to announce that it  will be supporting Aubrey  with our Youth Development Programme  over  2025. If you haven’t yet met Aubrey, yet keep your eyes open at cyclocross races, at the velodrome  and at more time trials.

Aubrey has been a Whizz Kid and club member since he was seven and he’s a good all-round athlete. He’s  is a keen, and very good  runner.  Earlier this month he came 3rd in the Leicestershire and Rutland U15 Cross Country Championships.  He’s competed in triathlons too but he says,  “No matter the weather, I would always rather be riding my bike than be swimming!” He is keen to develop both his cycling and his running this year and will be supported by cycling coach Bryan Steel.

We are looking forward to following his progress and encouraging him further.
