The ‘fast group’ finally lived up to its billing by taking the top slots at the third Mallory Race Night.
In blustery but dry conditions, the first (and slowest) group hung on to the lead until four laps from the end; before being caught and passed in quick succession by groups two, three and four.
A special mention to group one’s 13-year-old Aubrey Elmer, who made a spectacular bid for a solo victory as the race entered its final few laps.
But it was the fast group trio of Richard Kendrick, Rhys Thomas and David Robertson who battled it out for victory on the closing laps; with Richard edging out Rhys in a sprint finish by half a bike length.
