Cool and damp conditions greeted more than 30 riders in Tuesday’s second TT of the season, but they did nothing to diminish a positive atmosphere and many good strong rides.
Hans Van Nierop took top spot with a rapid 23.01, with Gary Roberts and Daniel McDonnell (fastest roadbike) rounding out the podium. Milly Pinnock took both the fastest woman and fastest roadbike spots, with Jamie Kershaw securing the Juvenile prize. Simon Ward would have won the MTB category if we had one….
It was also an encouraging debut time trial for Ali Chapman who offers lovely words about her experience below:
After a few visits to the Kibworth garden centre to talk cakes with Angela, I thought it only
right that I should sign up and have a go at the Langton TT last night. I knew of course that
there would be a selection of delicious cakes at the end of the 10 mile circuit which was
incentive enough.
I loved it! Everyone was very helpful and made sure I wasn’t carrying extra weight- pump,
waterproof, puncture repair kit etc.- for those marginal gains!! I knew the course as it is the
Thursday night chain gang course but it was still a relief to see all the Marshalls on the
corners and bends ,offering words of encouragement.
Yes I will sign up again! Although cake was the main motivation and the idea that I might
help wash-up ( I was too busy talking and I think JD beat me to it!!), I shall be looking at
improving my time for the next TT!
A huge thank you to the Organisers and Marshalls for their time in putting on the event.
And so say all of us, Ali, with an added vote of thanks as always to Mike Ives for his speedy processing of all the results.
See you all for TT number 3 on the 16th.
