Calling all hipsters yet again! Comb your beards, dust down your gravel bikes and finish your oat milk flat whites.
The spring gravel ride will set of from Great Bowden at 8am on Sunday 16 April. The weather gods have not been kind and the original draft route which would have taken us out to Wakerley Woods and Fineshades has had to be abandoned due to the recent heavy rain – it’s in the bank for another time when we have drier conditions though. Instead we have planned a route which will take in some of the highlights of our off-road routes that remain rideable in wetter conditions including a full circuit of Pitsford Reservoir, The Brampton Valley Way and the canal towpath (we will be reccying part of the route in reverse tomorrow on our 80k gravel ride from Great Bowden at 7.30am).
This is a club ride for members and friends from other local clubs. We will split into groups if numbers allow and the steady group will be a no-drop group.
A beard is not required. The route will also be suitable for non-hipsters on cyclocross bikes or MTBs.
See link to the route below (clockwise):
We plan to meet at 8am on the green in Great Bowden. Some form of puncture protection is recommended for our off-road rides such as tubeless tyres with sealant or self-sealing inner tubes.
Please let us know if you’re coming so we can organise ride groups by bike type and speed.
To be added to our off-road WhatsApp group please message Adrian Killworth or email your mobile number to offroad@wellandvalleycc.co.uk
