Update from Youth Development rider Jamie Kershaw

Youth Development rider Jamie Kershaw reports on a very busy few weeks, and some cracking results:

To start off I just wanted to tell you how my past few races have been going and the first one I want to talk about is Mallory Park youth league and as some of you may know I went and won it in the rain with a breakaway but I tried multiple times to get away and most of them didn’t work but I managed to launch an attack on the last lap which then led to me winning the race.

The second race I want to talk about was the North West Youth Tour which consisted of 3 days of riding with the first stage being a 2 mile prologue TT down Morecambe promenade which I managed to do in 4 minutes 59 seconds which put me 30th overall. The next stage was on a closed road circuit and it was probably the hardest stage as we had to climb Daisy bank hill in the stage another reason why this was a hard race was because it was a 2 mile lap and we had to race for 40 minutes. I finished 35th on this stage.

Stage 3 was the last stage and this was a nice fast and flat stage which was around Lancaster University which I finished 34th in the race as unfortunately I did not get a great start which ment they dropped me after a few laps and unfortunately I got lapped which wasn’t great but I managed to sit on the back of the bunch for the rest of the race. I managed to get 31st in the overall for the whole weekend.

This was then followed by the last club race at Bruntingthorpe which was quite a windy one and I was trying to hang in on the back of group 2 which was hard as this would have been the 4th race on the trot for me.  I managed to breakaway in a group of two of us when he dropped off of my back wheel then 2 people chased me down and they caught me then we worked together to the end of the race which I was quite surprised that I won.

Thanks for the continued support from the club.

Jamie
