James Moore sprinted to a home victory in the AA Brown Engineering Road Race.
Delighted with his victory James commented ‘I have been trying to win the A A Brown for a number of years. During the winter I targetted this event, I’m over the moon to finally win’.
In excellent conditions, the racing was frantic from the start as the competitors faced 13 laps of a triangular circuit. With nearly 40 corners to negotiate, it was critical riders held their nerve as the average speed was 27mph for the 60km.
Riders were constantly attacking the bunch in the hope they would get away or split the bunch. With a headwind finishing straight no one was strong enough to break the grip of the pack.
Heading into the final kilometers it was evident it was going to be a bunch sprint for the victory. James burst out of the bunch with 150m to go to take a fine victory.
Under the leadership of Phil Rayner, Welland Valley CC and friends promoted a first-class event topped off by Moore.
Many thanks to Martin & Vincent Brown – A A Brown Engineering – for their loyal support.
