Fantastic Micro Tour de Welland.
A peloton of 22 Whizz Kids and adults enjoyed a lovely 12 mile spin around the valley, the route incorporated an opportunity to cheer on the racers in the NCRA handicaps.
The ride ended back in Great Bowden for cake and hot chocolate.
Many thanks to parents, Nigel and Holly for helping with a trouble free ride.
The next Whizz Kids activity is Round 1 of the Aldens Electrical Racing League on Saturday 24 March in Welland Park. Round 1 will be two sets of skills test.
Hi Whizz Kids. The session this Saturday will be MICRO ETAPE DE WELLAND, a family ride led by Dean and will meet at The Green, Great Bowden with a 2:00pm roll-out and will follow a route set out along quiet country lanes. This family ride is suitable for riders aged 6 years plus.
The ride will incorporate lots of 'stopping points' along the route, there is also a shorter route should we need it.
Those parents not wanting to join the ride can enjoy relaxing either in Bowden Stores or Weltons.
I strongly recommend the baking from each of the tea shops.
We hope to enjoy a well earned slice of cake after our ride into the Welland Valley.
All riders must wear helmet.
The first skills session of the year saw over twenty Whizz Kids assemble for the homecoming session at Welland Park this afternoon. With sticky conditions underfoot this was going to be an energy sapping session for those who rode on the grass. Fortunately for the youngsters Dean and Jade made use of the hard courts for a single speed session on an easier surface and feedback after the session was a compliment to the safe riding shown by our youngsters. The multi speeders warmed up with a colour chase on the grass court before an interim ride round led by Huw. Parts of the park were out of bounds following Doris Day this week and the damage was noticeable The second part of the session was a bmx style ride with short straights and sharp turns on the bank we could use. As usual the session finished with a circle of doom with Huw completing the afternoon by staying upright just longer than Imogen. Thanks to Ian, Jade, Dean and Huw for your assistance today. The next session on March 11th and ia Family ride led by Dean from Great Bowden. Keep an eye on the website for final details as the ride route will depend on the weather the previous week.
Finally well done to Whizz Kid Ben who missed the session as he was competing in the Club Time Trial championship hardride and put in a very creditable debut performance a very testing course. Well Done Ben
See you next time
