Whizz Kids Racing League Round 2 - LUMPS & BUMPS Report

A massive thanks to Dean for building and running today's session which formed Round 2 of the Whizz Kids Racing League. The Session title was "Lumps and Bumps" and the description was apt as the riders raced up and down sharp climbs and had a few off-camber sections as well. Each rider had two races, the first a short sharp 2 lapper to get the blood pumping and the afternoon started and after a suitable breather a second, much longer race over multiple laps. Clearly the skills practiced in recent weeks had sunk in as the quality of racing was first class on what turned out to be a sapping circuit. Well done to all riders, lots of great efforts today

Race results are here courtesy of Ian. Thanks to Dean, Ian & Jade and to the parents who helped in any way today.

Don'r forget the chance to see the Cicle Classic tomorrow if you get the chance.

Whizz Kids Racing League Round 2 - LUMPS & BUMPS

SATURDAY 22nd APRIL –

Whizz Kids Racing League Round 2 - LUMPS & BUMPS.

Round 2 of the popular Whizz Kids Racing League will be held at the

rear of the Market Harborough Leisure Centre.

The league enables the children to put into practise the skills they

have developed recently in Welland Park in a safe, friendly,

controlled racing environment.

Racing - please note - our ethos is not all about results and winning.

As a coach it is more rewarding to witness individuals showing great skills:):)
All riders are applauded for their effort and determination.

The racing will be based on a course taking in the landscape at the far end of the sports field,

hence why the events is called 'Lumps and Bumps'.

There will races be for youngsters aged from Under 6 to Under 14 years old.
Entry will be £1 > First race will start at 2pm > course open from 1:45pm.

Whizz Kids are also very fortunate to access to chip timing to help formulate results.

Below are links to a brief idea of the courses that will be used.

2017 Whizz Kids Racing League Round 1

Wow! - what an afternoon for round 1 of the Whizz Kids Racing League for the Skills Omnium and an mix of old and new, classic and new age ways to test your skills out. Riders were timed on the classic skills circle with the traditional ride the line, slalom, off 'n' on, Stopbox and finishing with the Hi5 or "madball in a box". thet was the classic but over the hills and far away Dean had conjured an exceptional course on the edge of the park. Riders left the start house before tackling the first new activity, the hanging slalom where the slalom poles were suspended from above and moved freely in the breeze. Then it was on to "the chair" with two cx hurdles, then onto the labyrinth box before heading into the bushes and the cambers over and around the bumps. The return wasn't any easier with "the tightrope" then the washboards to test the suspension before the slalom, the ball pick, the figure of 8 before a run across the berm and a nasty uphill finish. There was some super riding, probably the largest gathering of balance bikes we've seen for a while and all mixing it with the chain drive bikes. One rider rode a clear round on the classic circle towing a trailer, it goes on, a super day
Cheers to Dean for all the work with this session and to Holly, Sophie and George plus all the other parents who encouraged the riders or were drafted in as a Hi Fiver.
