Whizz Kids Skills 25th February

Hi Whizz Kids, just a reminder that the next Whizz Kids session is this Saturday for the first skills session of the year at Welland Park. We start at 2:00pm for around an hour and you'll find us on the old tennis courts for sign-on and we'll be on the park for the duration. Don't forget your bike, helmet, gloves and a small drink. We could be having colder weather next week so dress appropriately. See you on Saturday

Derby Cluster Race Session 5 March

Whizz Kids - Derby Cluster 5 March. This is a race only event I mentioned last week and the organisers have indicated that this a session suitable for competent riders who have ridden in the Intermediate or Advanced groups, sorry but this session is not suitable for riders in the novice group. Booking is open at https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/…/Derby-Track-Cluster--Ra…

Derby Go Ride Race 5 March

Hi Whizz Kids, Just a heads up that there is currently a Cluster Go Ride Race event being planned for Sunday 5th March with Redditch Road & Path CC doing the lead organising. Details are not yet finalised and I'm not aware if the online booking is open yet but I wanted to make sure the date was in your diary. The type of event could be based on the following, however this is just an example GRR Cluster Structure and not finalised:
9.00-9.10-9.20 : 2 Warm up blocks of 10 mins
9.20: 500mtr TT effort – will be looking to have 4 riders on track at same time – so approx. 8 heats – Approx 3-4 mins each = 30 mins(look for any obvious riders to move up or down groups)
9.50: Scratch race for Intermediates 20 laps ? (5Km) for Advanced 25 ? laps (again look for any obvious riders to move up or down groups)
10.20: Sprint round 1 – All riders in heats of 3/4 riders – 2/3 lap sprints – 8 heats seeded by TT time – winners go up/last riders go down
10.50: Unknown distance (perhaps with block handicap element)
11.10: Sprint Round 2 – as above
11.35: 5/6 lap dash
11.50: longest lap challenge (not counting)
12.00: Finish – awards/feedback

Also I'm waiting to see if there is any scope for involving novice riders or is this is aimed at middle/top group riders only. As soon as I know I'll let you know.
